Rain In Country Place

Kratos and I like to visit with the neighbors on our morning walks and we’ve all been commiserating about the abnormally dry weather…until now. Yesterday I poured 3/10’s an inch of rain out of our gauge; this morning I poured out 5.25″.

We got a gully-washer last night, and in fact some of our gulleys here in Country Place have been washing big stones down the road…you can see them on the hill heading down toward Ron & Theresa’s. There were also a couple of trees knocked down last night across the Story’s driveway.

Attempted Forced Entry in Country Place

Friends,

Rebecca received this warning email from Ron Dart last week and we wanted to share it so that everyone could take the necessary precautions.

Subject: Attempted forced entry

We have seen evidence of an amateurish attempt at illegal entry to our  house. One was a torn screen at a strategic location, and the other was  evidence of a tool inserted in a vain attempt to open the front door. I say it  is amateurish because a pro would have know you couldn’t do that with a dead  bolt.

It might be a good idea for residents to examine windows and doors for  tool marks. We have suspected it before, but the latest attemps were within  the past month. These were on the street side of the house, which seems  odd.

Our president, Ken Terrell, has recommended a Neighborhood Watch program. If you have feedback for us on that idea, please pass it along.

Beware of Snakes

This from one of your neighbors down on Lakeshore:

Ken,

Thought I would give everyone in Country Place a helpful reminder to be careful where you step and put your hands.  Lamar and I walked back to the lake behind our house several Fridays ago and on returning to our yard Lamar was bitten by a copperhead.  After half a night in the ER all is well now.  We have had 3 additional copperhead bites brought into our ER this month as well, and this shows me there is some aggressive snakes right now.

Thanks,
Terri McLarey

Kratos and I have seen several dead copperheads on Country Place roads over the years, particularly down on Lakeshore after the Mohn’s cleared. Just be aware that they’re around and watch your step!
