After the Rains

I just got home and checked the rain gauge. It read 8″ and was almost overflowing. After a year that saw us 9″ below our normal rainfall, it’s a plus to start off the new year with a frog-strangler. The waterfall below Old Lake (#1) is roaring.

The evening before a blue norther blew in and Tyler experienced the coldest week this year, we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

Winter Skies

When folks from out-of-state visit us looking for their next home in the wintertime, I tell them that viewing East Texas this time of year is like seeing their girlfriend without her makeup for the first time. Still pretty, of course, but minus much of the color. So I tilt upward for beauty and find it in winter skies like this one, over our Long Lake here in Country Place.

Thanksgiving At The Park

Thanks to Valencia and her volunteers for putting together a Thanksgiving celebration at the park on Saturday. It was another opportunity to visit with neighbors, break bread together, and watch the children play. Cara Buller is shown here in her Mothers arms.
